Provo Area Day 3

This is Bingham Copper Mine about 30 miles from Salt Lake City.  It is the largest surface mine in North America, and is 2 miles by 1 mile.  Ore is mined by huge electric shovels picking up 16 tons from blasting the mountain daily

The trucks are huge...here's proof..one of the tires

Next we went to the Great Salt Lake and walked out on the salty beach

We went in to Salt Lake City and took a quick look in at the Rotunda/Dome that is 165 feet high

We had a late lunch at Little America Hotel...a landmark in Salt Lake, another great meal...the night before Cheryl prepared a great dinner for us...the Blackberry Pie she made from the blackberries they grew was wonderful..and so were the veggies they grew..everything was good.  So glad I don't have a scales with us.

We went across the street to look at the Grand Hotel

In the hotel lobby a group..the Black Hat Society..were in costumes having pictures taken..different

Around temple square we saw many brides..much more exciting.  We went to see the movie of Joseph Smith's life, and drove thru some of the large residential homes, the U (University of Utah), and medical complex.  We had a great visit in the Provo Salt Lake City area...it was time to say goodbye and continue on our trip..next the Arches National Park in Moab, Utah
