Mitchell, South Dakota's Corn Palace

We arrived in South Dakota after a long windy day of driving from Iowa. On our list of places to see was this impressive place. The first Corn Palace was built in 1892, and every year a new decorating theme is chosen.
Over the summer, 3000 bushels of grains are tied in bundles and attached. Then when the corn crop is ready, the corn murals are made with over 500,000 ears and nailed to the building. These first few pictures are on the inside..a basketball court with murals all around the walls. The first one is Bird hunting.

The theme this year is America's Destinations

On our way we passed Sioux City, Iowa and hundreds of wind mills..so awesome!
