Northwest Ohio

On Sunday we toured the coast of Lake Erie and on our way, we toured Wellington and stopped at the birthplace of Thomas Edison in Milan. On Monday we left Ohio for Michigan

Steve made shade so Carol can use the laptop on the road!
Ohio's most famous lighthouse

We toured the home and saw the bedroom where Edison was born
The ATM in Wellington..don't you love it, lots of Amish around this area.

Wellington is a small town and claim to fame is the person who painted the Spirit of '76 (Fife and drum marchers) was from there
A great town hall and memorial to the soldiers from all the wars. In this area they had their annual cheese festival that we attended

Cleveland & Rock and Roll

We spent Friday in Cleveland, and went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...spent over 4 hours there and really liked it! Met Dusty Street, the DJ for Sirius Radio Classic Rock channel that we listen to as we travel.
Saturday was a doing chores day...even on this extended vacation, there are chores..laundry, truck wash, and shopping. Sunday we were back touring and will post that day next

Found a great restaurant and Cleveland brewed beer..Carol had her first Walleye Fish, very good, and we enjoyed Sausages and bratwurst.

leaving Southeast Ohio

We have really enjoyed our stay at this campground, and our day trips. We are going to another State Campground near Cleveland, and look forward to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

Below is the lodge at the campground..it is the biggest state park in Ohio and has golf course, lake with beach, and lots of other things to do. No bikepath though, so we found one on a day trip..the Erie Canal Towpath. On Wednesday we went to Columbus, the State Capitol. Toured German Village and had lunch at a great Deli, and toured Ohio State Campus..see the stadium

Park in German Village..lady in the Rain

also went to the Amish Country and had dinner at Der Dutchman..beautiful farm land, very well manicured.

Went to Pittsburgh on Tuesday

We loved Pittsburgh and here are some of the pictures from around town...went to the Science Center to see C3PO...what fun...and the incline was so amazing! Sandwhich at Primanti's had coleslaw and french fries on it. Who would have thought such a beautiful city.

Football Hall of Fame

We are in Southeast Ohio, and decided to stay at the Salt Fork State Park Campground and do day trips from here. On Monday, we drove to Canton and visited the Football Hall of Fame

note the temp...great weather so far

I lived in Florida when Dolphins 17-0 record was set and we all went crazy.

On the Road to Blacksburg, Va

We left the farm on Friday, July 10 and headed to Blacksburg, Va to see Katie and spend the night with her. We parked the Sugar Shack in the Walmart Parking lot, and Katie picked us up.
We went to dinner, and then watched a movie with her....Lars with the Real Woman or something like that...so cute!
We left about 10am on July 11th headed for Salt Fork State Park in southeast Ohio..the largest state park in Ohio..17,000 acres.

We weren't the only RV in the parking lot..you can see the boat they were pulling next to us

we toured the Virginia Tech campus as it is so beautiful we never get tired of viewing it.

Football Stadium from two different views

We ate at a new restaurant called Bulls & Bones at the new shopping center near Katie

Near Rocky Mount, NC

We left Raleigh on July 4th, and came to our farm near Rocky Mount. Steve's Mom (Peewee) lives on the farm and we have a small home we call the Love Shack. The Sugar Shack (travel trailer) is set up and we'll stay in it until we leave after his Mom's tests are complete on Wednesday (and after she recouperates).

Steve and his Mom..he cooked hamburgers, and we got some corn out of the fields around us to celebrate July 4th. Here's our little farm home...the love shack
